Hi Christophe,

for simplicity I tried a computation continued with a small case. The tracer was in the first results file that I used as computation continued file. For the continued simulation TELEMAC read all initial conditions from the previous results file except the tracer values. This was strange since I was following the progress of the simulation and in the beginning it said it was reading the last timestep of the previous computation for all variables including the tracer
This might also be the problem earlier, that TELEMAC doesn't look for the tracer values as initial condition.

I'll have a look into the fortran files to see if I can find the problem.

Hello Sven,

This is strange, Telemac-2D officially reads all the tracers in case of restart, look for sequence ALIRE(31+ITRAC) = 1 in telemac2d.f, this is where we say that tracers must be read. The names of tracers given in the steering file must have 32 characters, 16 for name and 16 for unit, and it must be the same in the previous computation file, could that be the problem ?

Hello Jean-Michel and Christophe,

to continue the computation from the last timestep from a previous one I made a mistake in the name of the tracer, i.e. in the unit. The unit must also be the same. So now that works.

I also tried further to find out how I could create my 'artificial' results file where I can add my salinity map. It turns out that in Blue Kenue you have to add a new selafin file and add a new variable to this selafin file by right clikcing on it. If you drag and drop a salinity map in it, you will loose de units and this is crucial. Without units TELEMAC will not recognize it. You also have to add the depth map. For other parameters like velocity TELEMAC can fix the missing values by setting it default to 0.

Thank you for the hints

Sven

I noticed that what I said above is not working in paralel mode.

Do I have to do something special for a continued computation in paralel or should I search for a mistake in our configuration?

greetings,

Sven

Hello,

No, this should work in parallel, I see no reason why it could not. Try first without restart.
