Yes I always use the NAG compiler. It is better for developing, as it is much more strict on Fortran and gives a lot of warnings (unused variables, etc.). The efficiency in terms of computer time is the same as Intel.

What are the major difference between these compilers? which one is more user friendly? I am planning to get one. Please advise. I am not a good programmer but a user.

No major difference. I prefer the NAG compiler because it sees more errors in Fortran, which is good also for beginners. Maybe someone can give a piece of advice on which is the simplest on installation ? A key point is supporting BIG and LITTLE_ENDIAN files but both do that.
